Josh has been at home for nearly six days now. The rough transition we expected based on hospital advice was brief; Josh settled in within a few days and seems to be enjoying our room, which is pretty spacious and gets lots of natural light.
Occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech-language are coming out to the house this week, and after taking a couple field trips to see facilities, Josh chose a daytime brain injury facility in inner Southeast. He’ll start next week, adding structure, therapy sessions, and some group work to his schedule. All of which are supposed to be very helpful for TBI recovery.
Josh’s physiatrist signed a document for six months of no working. We’ve had a huge amount of family and community support—wow and thank you—on every level, so the family is starting to settle in now that Josh is home. We are lucky, lucky people.
